Sanctions statement

Where Bastard Games is not available

Bastard Games is run from the United States and follows US sanctions law. We do not serve:

• Cuba (CU)
• Iran (IR)
• North Korea (KP)
• Crimea, Ukraine (UA-43)
• Sevastopol, Ukraine (UA-40)
• Donetsk, Ukraine (UA-14)
• Luhansk, Ukraine (UA-09)

Everywhere else is served, including the rest of Ukraine and Russia. Whether any other country or region should be added is [TBD by counsel].

How we block

• We look at the country and region of your internet connection, as reported by our hosting provider. A request from a blocked place gets the message "Bastard Games isn't available in your region because of US sanctions law." (HTTP 451).
• This page and Contacts stay readable from a blocked place, so you can see why and reach us.
• At checkout we also look at the country of the billing address you enter. A purchase billed to a blocked country is not completed, or is refunded.
• Developers in a blocked country cannot start payout onboarding.
• Stripe screens the developers it pays out to, under its own sanctions rules.

If we block you by mistake

A VPN or a mobile network that routes through another country can make an ordinary visitor look as if they are somewhere else. If you think we blocked you wrongly, see Contacts.

Why

US law forbids us from doing business with people in comprehensively sanctioned places, and our payment provider and hosting providers require us to follow it. This is not a judgement about the people who live there.
