Cookie Policy

This is placeholder text. It lists the cookies Bastard Games sets today. All of them are strictly necessary, so we do not show a consent banner. If we ever add anything that is not strictly necessary, we will ask first and update this page.

Cookies we set

• bastard_mature_ok. Set when a signed-out visitor confirms they are 18 or older to see a mature game. It lasts one year. It is not used for anything else. When you are signed in, your account's date of birth decides, and this cookie changes nothing.
• bastard_refused. Set when someone gives a date of birth that makes them younger than 13, so that the same browser cannot simply try again with another date. It lasts one year.

Cookies from our sign-in provider

We use Clerk for accounts. It sets cookies on bastard.io to keep you signed in and to protect sign-in against fraud. They include a session cookie and a client cookie (names beginning with __session, __client and __clerk). [TBD by counsel: confirm the full list and lifetimes from Clerk's documentation]

Cookies from payments

When you buy a game, you pay on a page hosted by Stripe. Stripe sets its own cookies there to process the payment and prevent fraud. See Stripe's cookie policy.

Games

Web games run on a separate domain, bastardbox.xyz, so they cannot read or set cookies for bastard.io. A game may set cookies of its own on its own address. Those are the developer's responsibility.

What we do not use

We do not use advertising, tracking or analytics cookies, or advertising pixels.

Managing cookies

You can delete cookies in your browser settings. If you delete the cookies from our sign-in provider you will be signed out. If you delete bastard_mature_ok you will be asked to confirm your age again.
